FlashRead Privacy Policy

Summary
FlashRead does not require an account, does not collect personal information, and does not use analytics, advertising or tracking. Your reading history, statistics, settings and saved texts stay on your device.
What Stays on Your Device
- Reading progress, recent sessions, statistics, streaks, daily goals and achievements.
- Your settings, your custom manifestations, and text you paste or open from a .txt file.
- Books you download for offline reading.
- Free-plan usage counts (library books per month, affirmations per day).
Deleting the app removes all of this data.
What Leaves Your Device, and Why
Some features need a network request. These requests carry no account, name, email address, advertising identifier or device identifier, and their content is not stored:
- Book library: when you browse, search or open a book, the FlashRead server receives the search words or the book's Project Gutenberg number and returns public-domain text from Project Gutenberg. Book cover images load from gutenberg.org.
- Enter URL: the web address you enter is sent to the FlashRead server, which fetches that page and returns its article text to the app.
- PDF and EPUB files: the file you choose is sent to the FlashRead server, which extracts its text in memory and returns it. The file is not kept. Plain-text (.txt) files are read on your device and never uploaded.
- Word definitions: when you press and hold a word while reading, that single word is sent to the Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) to look up its definition.
Subscriptions
FlashRead PRO is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. Your subscription status is verified on your device by Apple's StoreKit and is not sent to us. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles purchase data.
Children's Privacy
FlashRead is suitable for a general audience. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here and update the date above.
